With 2025 now drawing to a close I am taking this time to wish you a Happy New Year for 2026.

Usually I am to do a you tube video to welcoming in the new year and to show case the year I have had.

Sadly I have not been able to do this for 2025, due to my illness, disabilities and once again facing homelessness.

These are things that I would like to talk about more in 2026, also to showcase thought out 2026 to promote information and awareness about these.

I know that the say “A picture paints a thousand words.” So I will aim to do this though my art.

Saturnalia Explained

Happy Satunalia December 17 to December 23

Saturnalia is an ancient Roman festival and holiday in honour of the god Saturn, held on 17 December in the Julian calendar and later expanded with festivities until 19 December.

By the 1st century BC, the celebration had been extended until 23 December, for a total of seven days of festivities. The holiday was celebrated with a sacrifice at the Temple of Saturn, in the Roman Forum, and a public banquet, followed by private gift-giving, continual partying, and a carnival atmosphere that overturned Roman social norms: gambling was permitted, and masters provided table service for their slaves as it was seen as a time of liberty for both slaves and freedmen alike.

A common custom was the election of a "King of the Saturnalia", who gave orders to people, which were followed and presided over the merrymaking. The gifts exchanged were usually gag gifts or small figurines made of wax or pottery known as sigillaria. The poet Catullus called it "the best of days".

Giant Hogweed In Whittleford Park

 Good moring over the past 24 hours we have had members of the loacl community contact us about seeing Giant Hogweed In Whittleford Park.

The best thing that I would advise to do in this situation would be to take a photo and record where in the park you have seen it.

Then to send in the phtoto to the Friends of Whittleford Park Page or Friends of Whittleford Group.

The other thing would be to contact Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council to that this can be removed from the park safley due to how dangerous it is to humans.

Whittleford Park New for Summer 2025

 Over the past 9 months the local support that Friends of Whittleford Park have recived has gone from stto strength to strength.

One of the post positive things that has been taking place is Local Litter picks with in Whittleford Park and also with in Grove Farm with the help of volunteers Kingswoods Community Centre; local to Whittleford Park and other public spaces.

With the help and surport of all of the organisers and volunteers both Whittleford Park and Gove Farm have both become a much more cleaner, safer and sociable place to live and visit.

With the opportunity to participate in local community events at the following places with in the Stockingford area of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.

Many of these places are with in walking distance and are also no local number 9 and 10 Stage Coach bus routes. 

Some of the places that you can visit are listed below

• Kingswoods Community Centre;
• Stockingford Community Centre
• Stockingford Library 

PLus many more places within the local community that offer a number of public services, food and entertainment.

For anyone who would like to know more about what is happening with in the local community; we are looking at updating all of the notices borads aroun Whittleford Park once a month to keep people upto date of local event.
